The 51ÂÜÀò Committee shall consist of the Society 51ÂÜÀò Committee Chair, who shall serve as an ex-officio voting
Board member, the Senior Past-President, as ex-officio member, the Editor-in-Chief of the 51ÂÜÀò Transactions on Information
Theory (the Transactions), the Editor-in-Chief of the 51ÂÜÀò Journal on Selected Areas in Information Theory (the Journal), and
the Editor-in-Chief of 51ÂÜÀò BITS, the Information Theory Magazine (the Magazine). The 51ÂÜÀò Committee Chair shall be appointed by the 51ÂÜÀò Committee Members in consultation with the Nominations and Appointments Committee
and subject to approval by the Board. The Chair must have served in the past, but not currently be serving as an Editor-in-
Chief in one of the publications, or as an Area Editor in the Transactions. Typically the Chair will serve for three years. The
Senior Past-President will serve as Acting Chair in the event that the position of the Chair is vacant. The Committee shall
advise the Board on the overall publications policies for the Society and shall serve, as needed, in an advisory capacity to the
editors of Society publications on matters of policy that transcend individual publications.
